‘I also can do’
July 1, 2026Today, working people who prepare to become intelligent workers under the study-while-you-work system are seen in any workplace in the DPRK.
The same is the case with the Anju Insulator Factory.
According to an official of the factory, among its employees there are dozens of students who study at the distance education faculty of Hamhung University of Chemical Industry.
Among the students are employees with considerable length of service, including workteam leaders, as well as newcomers.
“At first I worried that I might not study at my age. But when I buckled down to study with determination, I gradually felt confident. From then on, I began to resolve some technical problems at the production site by myself,” said Kim Chol Min, a workteam leader above 50.
Kim Chung Guk, a worker of the factory, has recently been awarded a certificate of invention by inventing an efficient bar cutting method.
A few years ago, he began to study in the online education system. He, however, often missed lessons on the pretext of pressure from work. Consequently, he failed to finish the first-term course in time. The following is what inspired him to make strenuous efforts again.
An old skilled worker, who had started to study together with him, worked hard to successfully finish the course and go up to the next term. Shortly afterwards, he came up with an original plan idea to contribute to the growth of production.
Chung Guk thought a lot at the development of his veteran older than him.
Later he studied hard and became a talent, pride of the factory, after finishing the online education course with honours.
Jong Yu Song, worker of the insulation workteam, is a young newcomer, but he is recognized as a proficient worker student as he has studied hard without wasting time with a burning ambition.
The factory also has many of married women students.
The manager of the factory said that thanks to the online education system established in the country, they, too, have proposed good ideas for the modernization of equipment and the growth of production.
Though they are different in age and career, all the worker students are full of confidence that through the online education, they can become talents, learners of science and technology, who will be able to greatly contribute to the development of the factory.
All of them say, “I also can do.”
