A spokesman for the Defense Ministry of China at a press conference on June 25 answered a question of a journalist as regards the fact that the Japanese defense minister had found fault with the transparency of the Chinese defense spending again.

China releases information about its defense expenditure on the basis of law every year, he said, adding that the country’s defense spending is reasonable and appropriate.

But the military budget of Japan, a defeated nation of the Second World War, has grown rapidly for 14 consecutive years and now its military spending per capita is going to exceed that of China over three times, he exposed.
