China exposes Japan’s growing military expenditure
June 29, 2026A spokesman for the Defense Ministry of China at a press conference on June 25 answered a question of a journalist as regards the fact that the Japanese defense minister had found fault with the transparency of the Chinese defense spending again.
China releases information about its defense expenditure on the basis of law every year, he said, adding that the country’s defense spending is reasonable and appropriate.
But the military budget of Japan, a defeated nation of the Second World War, has grown rapidly for 14 consecutive years and now its military spending per capita is going to exceed that of China over three times, he exposed.
Japan is dreaming a wild dream of covering up its ambition and moves for remilitarization by diverting public attention elsewhere and misleading the public while debasing China’s defense expenditure, he said, stressing that Japan should exactly explain to the world the intention of “neo-militarism” which poses a serious threat.
