The second forest restoration campaign has begun in the DPRK.

The campaign is not for usual afforestation but will be conducted to enrich forest resources necessary for the economic and regional development of the country so as to turn all mountains into “gold and treasure mountains” and to enhance the ability to protect the ecological environment of forests.

Innovations are being made in the production of saplings, the first process of afforestation this year, the first year of the second forest restoration campaign.

The sapling producers of all provincial tree nurseries have produced hundreds of millions of saplings.

The saplings will be transplanted to the vicinity of relevant mountains to further grow for one or two years before being planted in the mountains.

Officials and employees of Kangwon and North Hamgyong provincial tree nurseries have produced saplings in a large quantity and qualitatively after learning in detail what kind of species are badly required in their provinces and how many will be needed.

The North Hwanghae Provincial Tree Nursery has produced many saplings by raising the level of scientific and intensive sapling production.

The producers of the tree nursery secured enough seeds of good tree species, pepped up light substrate production based on compound bacilli to save manpower, nutritive solution and agrochemicals and applied the spraying of smaller molecular water effective for preventing damage from blights and harmful insects to achieve successes.

Tree nurseries of other provinces have worked hard to increase the production of saplings.

While consolidating their material and technical foundations, they have maximized the operation rate of automated equipment and produced enough organic fertilizer and humus soil to grow healthy saplings of good tree species.
