China rejects unilateral sanctions by EU
June 17, 2026A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry clarified his country’s stand against unilateral sanctions by the European Union at a press conference on June 10.
The EU is planning to include businesses in the Chinese territory in the new targets of sanctions against Russia. As regards this, he branded it as a baseless and illegal act.
China consistently and resolutely opposes illegal and unilateral sanctions with no grounds in view of international law and no approval from the UNSC and has already solemnly protested to the EU on several occasions, he said.
He stressed that his country strongly demands the EU lift such sanctions and will take necessary measures to staunchly defend its just rights and interests.
