The Ryokpho Disabled Soldiers’ Essential Goods Factory has completed a cold soap manufacturing technology and established the foundations for production.

According to an official of the factory, they could not improve the medicinal efficacy of soaps with the previous production method as various components with moisturizing and skin-softening effects were removed during the saponification at a high temperature.

The new cold soap manufacturing technology can preserve the medicinal components in raw materials by saponifying vegetable oil at a low temperature and ensure the quality of products at low cost without going through such processes as hydration refining, low-temperature alkaline refining, decolourization and deodorization.

The factory had to find out how the pharmacological components of the oil change in different temperatures and build machines that can ensure the maximum profits while maintaining a rational temperature.

After dozens of failures, officials and employees of the factory came up with a rational plan for building the saponification equipment which can ensure the temperature needed for the cold soap production and carried it out successfully.

During the trial production, the factory’s multi-functional saponification equipment proved to be able to improve the quality of soap by fully removing the neutral oil components of oil materials and save electricity and labour much more than before while greatly increasing the output.

The factory continues to develop and introduce new technologies so as to improve the quality of various kinds of soap products, including cold soap.
