June 14, 2026

Fresh innovations are being made in the key industrial sectors to carry out the tasks set forth at the First Plenary Meeting of the Ninth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

The metallurgical industry sector has increased the production of iron and steel while further consolidating the existing foundations for Juche-based iron production and expanding its capacity.

The Kim Chaek and Hwanghae iron and steel complexes and the Chollima Steel Complex have made steady efforts to perfect the Korean-style iron production method, thereby updating the technical and economic indices of energy-saving oxygen blast furnaces and UHP electric arc furnaces and increasing the production of iron and steel.

Many other units of the sector keep expanding production, including the Musan Mining Complex, the Unnyul and Jaeryong mines and the Puryong Ferroalloy Factory.

The electric-power industry is increasing power output by actively combining thermal power and water power.

Electricity output is being increased by introducing new technical innovation plans for putting water management on a scientific basis and increasing power generation.

The coal industry is also boosting coal production by dint of mass innovation.
