June 1, 2026The work for the children has become the most important of all state affairs in the DPRK.
The issues for children are discussed at major meetings to deal with state affairs and a huge sum of money is unsparingly disbursed for their wellbeing.
Busy as he was guiding the Fifth Plenary Meeting of the Seventh Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, the respected General Secretary
In June five years ago the General Secretary made sure that it was adopted as an important policy to supply all children across the country with dairy products and other nutritious foods at the state’s expense at the Third Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK. And he calculated the amount needed for it and personally tasted the trial products, stressing the necessity to improve the quality of dairy products.
Under such meticulous care of him, the Sixth Session of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK adopted a law to institutionally guarantee the WPK's childcare policy and fresh dairy products are now supplied to children at nursery and kindergarten ages across the country at state expense every day.
One day in February 12 years ago, he visited the baby home and orphanage in Pyongyang and acquainted himself in detail with the upbringing and educational conditions and living environment of the children. He said that the parentless children are also the successors to the Korean revolution and future pillars and instructed to officials to build all the baby homes and orphanages in the country at the highest level.
That day, he took measures to build a new baby home and orphanage provided with all conditions needed for bringing up and educating children on the banks of the picturesque Taedong River and modern baby homes and orphanages in all provinces and municipalities.
As a result, baby homes and orphanages sprang up wonderfully across the country.
After finishing his New Year address for 2015, he visited the Pyongyang Baby Home and Pyongyang Orphanage and warmly blessed the children greeting the New Year. When he visited the Wonsan Baby Home and Wonsan Orphanage on June 1 International Children’s Day, he suggested the children cut the ribbon at the inauguration ceremony so that they would remember the day when they cut the inauguration tape with their small hands and entered their home all their lives even after they become adults.
Now all parentless children in the country grow up healthily at such homes of happiness, receiving new clothes and various kinds of nutritious foods, fruits and others according to seasons.
His loving care was an exemplar showing the officials for what and whom they should live and work and where they should find their lives worth living and the essential nourishment that makes the whole country overflow with love for the rising generations and optimism for the future.
