Rich climatotherapy resources in DPRK
May 29, 2026The DPRK with beautiful mountains and limpid rivers is rich not only in health promoting mineral waters and hot springs but also climatotherapy resources.
Analyses of the areas with many macrobians in the world show that they have not wide temperature difference between winter and summer and the air there is clear and has many factors in it such as salts and anions.
There are many areas in the DPRK that can satisfy these conditions.
There are plenty of climatotherapy resources in every province, including the Mangyongbong spring water area in Pyongyang, the Yangdok hot spring area in South Phyongan Province and the Kyongsong hot spring area in North Hamgyong Province.
The climatic zones of the country can be divided into mountainous, coastal and lowland ones, namely the mountainous climatic zone of North Hamgyong Province, the alpine climatic zone of Ryanggang Province, the coastal climatic zones of South Hamgyong and Kangwon provinces and the lowland climatic zone of South Phyongan Province.
As the country’s climate is very diverse, people can choose climatic zones favourable for their health according to seasons.
Thanks to the measures taken by the Workers’ Party of Korea and the DPRK government that do everything for promoting the people’s health, tourist resorts, rest homes and sanatoria are found at all scenic spots across the country including Samjiyon Tourist Resort, the Wonsan Kalma Coastal Tourist Area, the Yangdok Hot Spring Resort and the Onpho Working People’s Holiday Camp, and many working people enjoy diverse and pleasant cultural and leisure activities, receiving various medical services including climatotherapy.
