A national contest of Taekwon-Do schools and a paduk (go) and janggi (Korean chess) contest by class took place respectively in Chongjin and Sariwon cities from May 11 to 27.

The contests brought together more than 600 players selected from Taekwon-Do schools under the Ryongaksan Taekwon-Do Team and provincial Taekwon-Do teams and the paduk teams at provincial paduk centres. They competed in the events of Taekwon-Do patterns and sparring, paduk and janggi, divided into various categories according to ages.

Kangwon Province came first in total standings, South Hamgyong Province second and Pyongyang Municipality third in the national contest of Taekwon-Do schools.

Players from the paduk teams of South Hamgyong, Kangwon and South Phyongan provincial and Pyongyang municipal paduk centres proved successful in the paduk and janggi contests by class.

Diplomas were awarded to the teams which finished in the top three and to the players who displayed high skills.
