The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un took part in the election of deputies to the 15th Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK at the Chonsong Youth Coal Mine of the Sunchon Area Youth Coal-mining Complex on March 15.

After voting for the manager of the Chonsong Youth Coal Mine who was a candidate for SPA deputy that day, the respected General Secretary met and encouraged him, hoping that he would faithfully discharge his responsibility and duty as a genuine representative of the people, a person in direct charge of activities of state power and a political activist, deeply mindful that the trust and expectations of the coal miners and other residents there are just the earnest requests of the country and the people.

Then, what made the General Secretary visit the polling station of the coal mine among the numerous stations across the country?

That day, he most highly appreciated before the country and the times the pure conscience and unassuming efforts of the workers of the coal mine, who have written an admirable chronicle of struggle in every decade of the revolution to defend the rejuvenation and prosperity of the country.

In the DPRK advancing the socialist cause while blazing a new path of history, the working class is the most powerful force of creation and transformation.

Among them, the workers in the coal-mining sector are the hard core of the country performing the most valuable feats in the vanguard of state building.

Coal miners are digging mountains of coal for the country, leaving traces of patriotism every day for all seasons under the ground people tread on casually.

It is because they love their country and live with the single desire that only when they produce a large amount of coal, the food of industry, can the economic development of the country be promoted.

Therefore, there are an increasing number of families of patriotic coal miners working at the collieries for three generations and young people unhesitatingly take their first step of working life at the coal fields. 

That is why the General Secretary highly appreciated the miners’ heroic struggle for and exploits in building up the lifeline of the self-supporting economy and supporting the state by unsparingly devoting their precious sweat and enthusiasm at deep underground pits and also extended warm greetings to their wives making sincere, devoted efforts for coal production, sharing mind with their husbands and children. 

His deep trust in the coal miners has served as a source of strength that encouraged the workers at coal mines across the country to attain a higher goal of increased coal production.

He also unveiled a brilliant blueprint for transforming the coal mines across the country during his visit to the Chonsong Youth Coal Mine.

That day, he said that as it is necessary to raise good crops for the living of the people, it is needed to increase coal production for the running of a state, and continued: The Party and the state should attach importance to the production of coal, the food of industry, and increase the state investment in it. Building up the Chonsong Youth Coal Mine into a standard one, where mechanization and informatization of the work inside the pits are realized, is a starting point of the long-term project to transform the material and technical foundations of all the coal mines across the country and the working conditions of coal miners.

Comrade Kim Jong Un’s visit to the coal mine marked a historic occasion that declared a new start for civilization and modernization of the coal-mining industry, finally breaking with its technical and cultural backwardness.
