Economic sectors out to hit annual production targets

April 30, 2026

All sectors of the national economy have turned out in the increased production drive for attaining the goals for this year set by the Ninth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

The workers in the metal and chemical industry sectors, the twin pillars of the self-supporting economy, are redoubling their efforts.

Those of the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex are actively promoting the work to further improve the Korean-style iron-making method, while conducting the equipment management and technological control in a responsible manner to carry out without fail the production plan of rolled steel which has been set higher than last year.

Those of the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex and the Chollima Steel Complex also spur the drive for increased production of iron and steel by intensifying cooperation between processes and waging a socialist emulation drive between shifts and between units.

The Namhung Youth Chemical Complex successfully implemented its first quarterly fertilizer production plan ahead of schedule as it focused on lowering the production costs, boosting productivity and raising the scientific level of production processes by relying on its own technicians and skilled workers.

The electric power industry sector is seething with activities for an increased production drive.

The employees of the Pukchang Thermal Power Complex work to increase power generation by raising the pulverization degree of coal and enhancing the efficiency of turbine generators.

The Pyongyang, Chongchongang and several other thermal power stations are producing more electric power than planned by raising the efficiency of facilities.

The workers of the coal-mining industry sector are also making progress, bringing about collective innovations.

The coal miners of the Sunchon Area Youth Coal-mining Complex and other coal-mining complexes positively display the spirit of collectivism of helping and leading one another forward to achieve tangible successes in securing reserve coal beds and producing coal. The Pukchang Area Youth Coal-mining Complex produces hundreds of tons of more coal than the daily average plan by widely employing efficient coal-mining methods.

An upswing is also being brought about in production in the machine-building industry sector.

The workers and technicians of the Taean Heavy Machine Complex expand successes in producing custom-built equipment while putting efforts into strengthening its material and technical foundations including the making of slag remelting furnace.

The Ragwon General Machine Enterprise continues to advance, improving machining accuracy of equipment and generalizing good experience gained in the workplaces.

Ensuring the smooth operation of the overall production processes, the Anju Pump Factory by far exceeded the first quarterly production target of pumps to be supplied to the coal-mining industry sector.

A marked improvement has also been achieved in production in the building-materials industry sector.

The workers of the Sunchon Cement Complex and the Chonnaeri Cement Factory, who kept in mind through last year’s work the iron truth that their own efforts are the best and nothing is impossible when they believe in their strength and work hard with concerted efforts, are now putting in efforts to improve the quality of refractory and ensure the rational mixing ratio of materials.

The employees of the Taean Friendship Glass Factory and other units operate all processes at full capacity, while making and introducing efficient and modern devices and actively learning from valuable experience of improving the quality of products.

The workers in the mining industry, forestry, rail transport and other sectors of the national economy also step up the increased production drive to attain their goals for this year.
