Scientific farming promotion groups widely spread technology

April 19, 2026

The scientific farming promotion groups are enhancing their role at farms across the country.

According to data available, hundreds of scientists and researchers involved in those groups are positively running workshops and passing-on-technique sessions in many cities and counties across the country in order to perfect the plans for scientific farming and diffuse excellent farming methods and techniques in conformity with the specific features of the relevant areas.

They have taken lots of sci-tech measures in the fields for improving the growth of wheat and barley and given effective on-site lectures to enable farmers to do spring seed sowing for those crops in a scientific way.

The group dispatched to South Hwanghae Province has intensified guidance and assistance, while analysing the experience gained and lessons learned last year, so that cities and counties can work out farming plans for this year in a scientific and technological manner. And it has explored and applied innovative ways for boosting agricultural production in the province, including the issue of producing over five tons of rice per hectare in thousands of hectares of reclaimed tidal-flat rice fields and the issue of making thousands of tons of soilless substrates for growing rice seedlings.

It formed ten teams to run short courses on the Juche farming method for a large number of agricultural officials and workers, and workshops on producing agricultural sci-tech products with locally available raw materials and supplying them, thereby laying a solid material and technical foundation for high yields from the beginning of the farming process of this year. All the members of the group acquired a scientific method of balancing soil salinity, before actively introducing it to relevant areas so as to create a soil environment favourable for the growth of crops.

Such a group dispatched to South Phyongan Province set a goal of introducing advanced methods of cultivating nutrient cold-bed rice seedlings and growing seedlings in greenhouses to all farms in the province and has positively solved sci-tech problems arising in the application of the methods.

It efficiently arranged workshops and passing-on-technique sessions for improving the growth of winter wheat and barley and gave effective on-site technical lectures on advanced farming techniques to improve the technical and practical qualifications of many officials and farmers in the farms in the province.

It also set up an over one-hectare sample field for scientific farming to give field officials and farmers a correct understanding of the advantages of scientific farming and has pushed ahead with the work to establish new cultivation techniques capable of dramatically boosting the per-hectare grain yield. It supplied all farms in the province with advanced agricultural sci-tech products including phytosine and has taken practical measures to increase the effectiveness of introduction of the products.

The group dispatched to North Hwanghae Province is intensifying the efforts to disseminate advanced agricultural science and technology and knowledge even to the sub-workteam, the grassroots unit in the countryside.

The group members numbering dozens have toured all farms in the province to offer workshops and passing-on-technique sessions in an effective way in order to tell farmers the methods of raising the regeneration rate of wheat and barley and scientific fertilizing methods, thereby arousing their enthusiasm for producing high yields. They have also given efficient on-site technical lectures on the scientific cultivation of sugar and oil-bearing crops at city and county raw materials bases, thus contributing to opening up good prospects for solving sugar and oil problems.

The group dispatched to South Hamgyong Province mapped out a scientific plan for improving soil fertility based on the accurate analysis of soil in all the areas under cultivation in the province and is pushing ahead with it. It is pressing on at the final stage with the introduction of a field e-map into hundreds of farms with an eye to boosting the informatization level of agricultural production, while taking practical measures for actively introducing fish breeding in rice paddies.

Such groups in many other parts of the country are striving to reliably support the growth of agricultural production by dint of science.
