China decries Japan’s moves toward ‘neo-militarism’

April 13, 2026

A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China at a press conference on April 7 denounced Japan's reckless moves toward "neo-militarism".

Japan is trying to amend the “three principles of defense equipment transfer” to the effect that the export of lethal weapons is approved in principle and weapons can be exported to the countries in conflict. Answering a question of a journalist as to this, the spokesman said that all the signs show that the Japanese right-wing forces are turning their security policy into an offensive and expansive one.

Japan is speeding up its remilitarization and threatening the regional peace and stability with its actual line and actions, he said, urging the international community to sharpen vigilance against that and resolutely deter Japan from committing reckless "neo-militaristic" acts.

He strongly demanded Japan seriously reflect on its history of militaristic aggression, act prudently in the sphere of military security and stop going along the wrong way.
