In recent years, an increasing number of officials obtained doctorates, pushing ahead with the development of their units.

Last year, Kim Song Chol, manager of the Sinyang County Disabled Soldiers’ Koryo Medicine Pharmaceutical Factory, and many other officials were awarded PhD degrees.

The pharmaceutical factory is not big but well-known as a unit advanced in the production of Koryo medicines as it makes the most of the geographical features of the mountainous county.

According to Kim Song Chol, they made the production processes germ- and dust-free, produced Koryo medicines in the form of extracts and turned out highly efficient medicines while increasing their kinds and improving their quality year after year.

Choe Yong Jin, manager of the Namap Farm in Yomju County, constantly improved his ability to become a doctor of agriculture and is now encouraging all farmers to engage in scientific farming.

Choe Chol Man, deputy director of the State Stamp Bureau, Ri Won Il, senior staffer of the Kangwon Provincial People’s Committee, and Ri Song Nam, section chief of the South Hwanghae Provincial Telematics Bureau, made valuable scientific research achievements conducive to the development of their units and received PhD degrees.

This year, Ri Mok Ran, head of the tourism exhibition agency of the National Tourism Administration, and Yun Chun Hwa, manageress of the Chongsan Farm in Kangso District, obtained doctoral degrees.

Ri Mok Ran was successful in the research into theoretical and practical problems for holding international exhibitions in the country in accordance with the worldwide trends and Yun Chun Hwa completed a research project on the technology of cultivating nutritive cold-bed seedlings.
