Modern regional-industry factories, built as the first entities of the regional development policy of the Workers’ Party of Korea, have increasingly strived to produce more and better goods favoured by the people, and thus the variety of the products has trebled over the early period after their inauguration.

True to the Party’s policy on making effective use of mountains in mountainous regions and the sea in coastal regions, officials and employees of different city and county foodstuff factories have put effort into developing and producing distinctive foodstuffs with raw materials available in their regions.

The Songchon County Foodstuff Factory produces processed products with Songchon chestnut, a speciality of the county, as a raw material.

The Jangphung County Foodstuff Factory developed fermented ginger vinegar, ginger candy, bean paste made with fruit of Korean pepper bush and pickled fruit of Korean pepper bush by using pharmacological and health functions of ginger and Korean pepper bush fruit widely cultivated in the county.

Similar factories in Kumya, Sukchon and Onchon counties in the coastal areas and the Orang County Marine Product-processing Factory produce dozens of kinds of processed marine products.

Officials and employees of such factories in mountainous counties, including Kim Hyong Jik and Usi counties, are putting spurs to the production of various kinds of products by relying on raw material resources in their regions.

Daily necessities factories in different cities and counties are expanding successes by directing efforts to developing new products.

The Hamju County Daily Necessities Factory is producing building materials for the construction of rural houses.

The Usi County Daily Necessities Factory has steadily pushed ahead with the improvement of the technical knowledge and skills of employees so as to increase the variety of wooden products.

Ichon and Jangphung county daily necessities factories developed functional laundry soap with fruits of heartnut and sweet flag growing extensively in their areas.

Officials and employees of garment factories in different cities and counties are increasing the variety of products.

The Kusong City and Kumya and Kim Hyong Jik county garment factories are working hard to make even one more kind of products while acquainting themselves in detail with what kind of clothes are in high demand among the locals and what colours and forms are liked most by them.

Garment producers in other regions, including Kosan, Sukchon and Unpha counties, are pooling their creative wisdom and efforts to develop a variety of garments that meet the climatic conditions of their areas and the tastes of the locals.
