Dmitri Medvedev, vice-chairman of the Russian Security Council, referred to the issue of ensuring strategic security in an interview with the newspaper Kommersant on January 25.

The difficult problems in ensuring strategic security only keep getting worse due to the US’ “missile defense program”, he said, adding that the overall global instability and confrontation and the division made in the world order compel countries to be engrossed in thinking how to protect themselves more effectively.

The most important thing in reducing strategic risks is not only to ensure equal and inseparable security but also to refrain from infringing upon the fundamental interests of every nation and dissolve confrontation that might cause military conflict, he noted.

And he said that Russia is ready for the development of any situation and will resolutely counter new security threats.
