General Secretary Kim Jong Un’s Revolutionary Activities

A regional construction campaign for 2026 started in the DPRK, demonstrating the steadfast pioneering spirit and executive faculty of the Workers' Party of Korea. The Party has made sure that the precious successes, experience and admirable results, gained in the regional revolution for surely guaranteeing the comprehensive national prosperity and development, serve as the starting point of a new bolder campaign and an engine for acceleration every year.

The remarkable changes, in which the loud explosions heard at the groundbreaking ceremonies of a year lead to the rousing cheers at the inauguration ceremonies in that year, have become a new custom of Korean-style socialism to excite the whole country. Against this backdrop, from this year large-scale construction projects will be carried out in a simultaneous and expanded way in 20 cities and counties. The projects involve the construction of not only modern light industry factories but also advanced public health facilities and leisure complexes which successfully went through their experimental stages.

The start with towering confidence of such a great construction campaign, which will bring about without fail the great auspicious events of regional transformation hailed by the people this year too, along with the bright prospect of a new upward stage of the Korean revolution to be opened up by the Ninth Congress of the WPK, constitutes a dynamic stride in the ongoing successive offensive and continuous advance of the Party which intends to bring earlier the epoch-making transformation by bringing about steady innovations and endless upsurge with each passing year.

A grand groundbreaking ceremony took place in Unnyul County on January 29 to signal the start of construction projects for regional development policy in the new year, greatly boosting all the people's optimism about and confidence in the truthfulness and dazzling prospects of the policy.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, attended the ceremony.

Present there were leading officials of the Party, government and armed forces organs, commanders of the large combined units of the Korean People's Army, commanding officers and exemplary soldiers of the 124th regiments at all levels and officials and working people in South Hwanghae Province and Unnyul County.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un made a meaningful speech.

We are now standing on the starting line of our gigantic struggle for another year, aimed at transforming the regions, he said, and continued:

This is the third year for implementing the regional development policy, and public health facilities and leisure complexes, together with regional-industry factories, will be built in 20 regions of the country including this Unnyul County. This means that nearly one-third of the cities and counties across the country will have been transformed.

This fact is testimony to our firm will to transform and improve the people’s living fundamentally and simultaneously throughout the country, and at the same time it clearly shows the surging spirit in implementing the expanding regional development policy and the development potential of our state gaining in strength year after year.

Referring to the changes made in the laying of economic foundations, the competitive edge of regional industry and the understanding of provincial areas through the two-year course of implementing the WPK's regional development policy, he affirmed that the Party would continue in the future to pursue the regional development policy, tap all potentialities and carry out the annual plans in a forceful and thoroughgoing way by adopting innovative and scientific methods.

Stressing the purpose of the WPK which has put forward the People’s Army in the vanguard of implementing its regional development policy, he said that the KPA soldiers are the vanguard in carrying out the historic cause unprecedented since the founding of the country and the creators of the people’s wellbeing. He added that commanding officers of the units and subunits in charge of regional construction projects should keep deep in mind the Party’s intention, and make special efforts for the spiritual development of the soldier-builders so as to develop all of them into staunch adherents, defenders and implementers of the Party’s revolutionary ideology and into patriots who render an active contribution to the comprehensive development of the state.

He called on all soldier-builders to march forward more bravely and vigorously, fully displaying the temperament and mettle of the Korean People’s Army in the creative struggle for the prosperity of the state and for the good of the beloved people, true to their duty as the vanguard of the Party, the defender of the revolution and the sons and daughters of the people.

By raising stormy cheers of "Hurrah!" all the participants responded to the patriotic call of the great Party Central Committee that is confidently leading their ideal and faith, fighting spirit and creativity, which have been firmly consolidated and cultivated, to the attainment of the goal of building a highly civilized and prosperous country.

Read out was a letter of pledge of officers and men of the 124th regiments at all levels of the KPA to Kim Jong Un.

The letter expressed the solemn will to invariably glorify the name of the powerful revolutionary army in the great era of Kim Jong Un by building the fine entities of civilization and rejuvenation, symbolic of the new era of transformation, all over the country in the significant year when the Ninth Congress of the WPK is to be held, cherishing deep in mind the great trust of Supreme Commander Kim Jong Un, who let the People's Army stand in the vanguard of the sacred struggle for creation to usher in a great era of transformation unprecedented in the nation's history and has given it matchless strength and courage with his ardent call for collective feats at every significant groundbreaking ceremony.

Kim Jong Un dug the first spadeful of earth to signal the start of the construction project, together with leading officials.

When he pressed the detonator, a thrilling explosion broke out in reflection of the spirit of self-reliance for growing stronger and achieving rejuvenation as early as possible through the indomitable struggle racing against time.

That day, he had photos taken with commanding officers and exemplary soldiers of the 124th regiments at all levels of the KPA.

All the soldier-builders loudly shouted in chorus "Kim Jong Un" and "Death-defying defence" in reflection of their pledge of single-minded loyalty to add glory to their noble title as the pioneer of transformation and the creator of happiness for the country and the people by repaying the deep trust of the Party Central Committee with their spirit of unconditional implementation and power of staunch execution.

The groundbreaking ceremony serves as a significant occasion heralding new great changes and successive achievements to be made successfully again along with the dynamic fighting spirit of the new era aspiring after steady development and leaps forward and the DPRK’s speed of creation that is increasing to realize the great ideals.
