China censures West for double dealing over Taiwan issue
January 9, 2026A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of China at a press conference on December 31 last year accused the Western countries of their double-dealing attitude toward the issue of Taiwan.
He said that the EU and some Western countries are finding fault with China’s just action to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, while turning a blind eye to the separatist moves of the forces seeking the “independence of Taiwan” by force of arms and the outside forces’ interference in China’s internal affairs.
China resolutely opposes this and has seriously protested it already, he said, stressing that no external interference is tolerable as Taiwan is an inseparable part of the Chinese territory and the Taiwan issue belongs to China’s internal affairs.
China strongly demands that Western countries strictly observe the one China principle, refrain from interfering in its internal affairs and stop conniving at and supporting the separatist moves for “Taiwan’s independence”, he stated.
