The National Exhibition of Sci-tech Achievements in the Field of Public Health-2025 was held on the theme of “Scientific and technical guarantee for the revolution in public health of the new era” amid the interest of many people.

On display there were over 2 300 pieces of sci-tech achievements presented by many units of central and local levels. Many of the exhibited data and products were appreciated by the public as they were substantially helpful to improving the quality of medical service and consolidating the material and technical foundation of public health.

Kim Hak Chol, an official of the Ministry of Public Health, said that medical facilities and equipment, forces of medical workers and supply of medicines are indispensable elements that should be prioritized in evaluating the capability of public health, adding that what drew special attention were different kinds of home-made diagnostic tools.

Different kinds of endoscopes such as electronic-image otorhinoscope and laparoscope presented by the Pyongyang Endoscope Factory attracted much attention.

According to To Jin Song, manager of the factory, the endoscopes, which were freshly devised and designed breaking from the old conventional models, are superior to those made in other countries in some technical specifications. As they have a high degree of dependence on domestic materials and low cost, there is a great possibility of introducing them into clinical practice.

Other eye-catchers were various kinds of medical appliances like digital fluoroscope and electronic microscope developed by the Sinjin technology exchange centre of the Kangbong Trading Company and the electronic model of human acupoints presented by Pyongyang University of Medical Sciences. Also, the liver tissue elasticity measurement system for diagnosing the degree of fibrosis in liver tissue was highly appreciated as it was developed in accordance with the actual conditions of the country.

The achievement of the Hungnam Pharmaceutical Factory that solved scientific and technological problems arising in the production of medicines opened up a prospect for ensuring domestic mass-production of household medicines, thus winning support from the general public.

Medicines and health foods of many other units were also eye-catching. Among them were medicines with immunity-reinforcing and anti-oxidizing functions presented by the Ryonghung Pharmaceutical Factory, nutrition pills good for the growth and development of children by the Research Institute for Nutritional Care of Children under the Academy of Medical Sciences and health foods helping the treatment of diabetes and obesity by the Chungsong Polyclinic in Rangnang District, Pyongyang.

The official of the Ministry of Public Health said that the development of new technologies is important but it conforms to the characteristics of the socialist healthcare system of the country to popularize advanced medical technologies so that anyone can enjoy their benefits to the full, adding that, in this context, the exhibition notched up some successes.
