Nation celebrates 80th anniversary of national liberation

The Korean people in all parts of the country significantly celebrated the 80th anniversary of national liberation as an auspicious event to be etched in the history of the country.

A constant stream of visitors flowed to the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the supreme temple of Juche, where President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il are preserved in their lifetime appearance.

Officials, working people, service personnel, youth and students presented baskets of flowers, bouquets and flowers to the statues of the President and the Chairman on Mansu Hill and in other places and mosaics depicting them across the country and paid high tribute to the great leaders.

Lots of people visited the Arch of Triumph, recollecting with strong emotion the day 80 years ago when the loud cheers of 400 000 people burst to welcome the triumphant return of General Kim Il Sung.

At the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt Taesong and the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery in Hyesan, crowds of visitors paid their high respects to the noble soul of the first-generation revolutionaries who carved out and advanced the revolution making their way through virgin snow.

Officials, working people, youth and students of South Hamgyong Province and Nampho Municipality visited the battle sites of the anti-Japanese war including the Yonggwang Revolutionary Battle Site and Kuksabong Revolutionary Battle Site to cherish the indomitable revolutionary spirit displayed by the anti-Japanese fighters, the spirit of guerrillas, as the precious ideological and spiritual assets.

Colourful celebratory performances were given in Pyongyang and other regions.

At the performance given by the National Symphony Orchestra at the Moranbong Theatre, the performers highly praised the great exploits of President Kim Il Sung who brought the first liberation day to the country and opened up a new history of socialist Korea which is prosperous by dint of independence and self-reliance with the solemn melodies of orchestra.

The artistes of the Phibada Opera Troupe and National Folk Art Troupe gave performances in front of the Pyongyang Grand Theatre and the Korean Folklore Museum.

There were also other performances given by the central artistic information team, artistic information team of the Pyongyang Construction Commission, artistic information team of the Ministry of Railways and artistic information teams of the working people’s organizations in different places of the capital city.

Celebratory performances and dances took place in all parts of the country.

Public service networks in the capital and provinces were crowded with visitors.

Happy laughter of the working people, students and children enjoying the holiday resounded at the Central Zoo, Natural History Museum, Munsu Water Park and riding clubs, bathing resorts and cultural and leisure centres throughout the country.
