Enlarged plenary meetings of the Workers’ Party of Korea’s committees of the Ministry of Railways, the Ministry of Land and Maritime Transport, the Pyongyang Construction Commission, the State Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports took place from July 3 to 9 for the implementation of the decisions of the Twelfth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK.

Present at the plenary meetings were members and alternate members of the relevant Party committees. Also on hand as observers were officials concerned.

The meetings analysed and reviewed the work in the first half of the year for implementing the decisions of the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth WPK Central Committee and discussed the measures for unconditionally and thoroughly carrying out the tasks facing their sectors and units by making more courageous, effective and intensive efforts.

Reports were made at the meetings.

The plenary meetings analysed and reviewed the successes and experience gained, shortcomings revealed and lessons drawn in the course of implementing the decisions of the relevant Party committees in the first half of the year, and raised the tasks and ways facing the Party organizations at all levels in carrying out the tasks for the second half of the year.

The meetings stressed the need for all Party organizations to enhance their fighting efficiency and activity, further strengthen the Party discipline and improve the effectiveness of the ideological work, thus bringing about a substantial improvement in implementing the Party’s decisions.

The meetings adopted decisions to ensure the thorough and perfect implementation of the policy tasks set forth by the Twelfth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth WPK Central Committee.
