Slovakia rejects EU’s plan to prohibit Russian energy import

The Slovak prime minister said on June 1 that he could not support the proposal of the European Union for totally stopping the import of nuclear fuel from Russia.

As regards the European Commission’s announcement of a plan to stop importing Russian gas, oil and nuclear fuel, he said the ban on Russian energy import will pose threat to the operation of nuclear power plants in Slovakia and reduce the competitive force of the European Union.

He stressed that the Slovak government would defend the interests of the state against the EU’s plan.
