A few days ago, The Pyongyang Times reporter Pang Un Ju saw a table of daily nutritious food supply standards for nursery and kindergarten children on a visit to the Pyongyang Municipal Goods and Supply Agency for Nurseries and Kindergartens.

The table showed in detail the national standards for the supply of dozens of nutritious foods including fish and eggs according to the ages of children.

Ri Myong Su, director of the agency, told her that under the care of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il who spared nothing for the children, a system was already established in the country decades ago to supply nutritious foods, including meat, eggs, sweets and cakes, beans and fishes, to the children at kindergartens and nurseries across the country on a normal basis.

Ri said that since the new childcare policy was adopted under the care of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un in June four years ago, dairy products have been regularly supplied to all pre-school children and, at the same time, the nutritious food supply standards have been subdivided to be more scientific.

The supply standards were redefined according to age groups and more than 10 items were added to the list of nutritious foods for children to be supplied to nurseries and kindergartens and the corresponding production and supply system was improved further, he said.

According to him, the Pyongyang Municipal People’s Committee has a department exclusively dealing with this affair and the Pyongyang Children’s Foodstuff Factory and several other factories in the city and ministries and national agencies are devoting their sincerity to ensuring the supply of children’s nutritious foods.

Therefore, the nutritious foods including meat, fish, eggs, milk (yogurt), vegetables and fruits are being supplied to children at nurseries and kindergartens every day, and the supply standards table fully conforms to the standards for children’s growth set by the World Health Organisation.

Thanks to such warm care of the Workers’ Party and state, the children across the country are growing up healthily to be pillars of the nation, he said.
