Complex lays foundation for increasing power production

May 1, 2025

The Pukchang Thermal Power Complex, which takes a large share of power production in the country, adopted an innovative management method to update the record of the number of workdays per ignition and lay a foundation for producing hundreds of millions of kWh of more electricity every year.

Officials of the complex solved technical problems arising in achieving the increased production target using the existing equipment, by taking the normal operation of generating equipment as a key to attaining the electricity generation goal for this year.

The complex introduced in an all-round way a new evaluation method which orients and subordinates all economic arrangements and production control to the management of equipment and technology and gives precedence to the quality of repair.

In the course of this, it increased the number of workdays per ignition from the previous average of 15 days to 19 in January and 26 in February for the first time in decades, thus overfulfilling its first quarterly production plan.

It staged a vigorous campaign for economy geared to lowering the norm of per-unit electricity consumption, while exploring and applying rational business management methods as required by the socialist system of responsible business operation. As a result, it remarkably reduced coal consumption for producing 1 kWh of electricity in each boiler to save over 6 000 tons of coal in the quarter and open up prospects of markedly increasing electricity production every year.

While efficiently running the integrated management information system, it steadily introduced labour, material and different other management systems to put its management activities on a scientific and IT basis.
