Recently, a Panamanian media outlet criticized the US’ interference in and pursuit of supremacy over its country and condemned the US for playing up the alleged “threat from China” and attempting to control the Panama Canal. It also disclosed the US Army’s plan for long-term stationing in Panama, warning that it would lead to new military interference and economic exploitation and further harm the interests of Panama eventually.

Answering the question raised by a journalist as to it on April 23, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that the US is viciously attacking China with lies to promote the American-style supremacy.

Noting that no lies can cover up the US’ ambition for putting the Panama Canal under its control, the spokesperson strongly demanded that the US stop fabricating issues related to China.
