This year is a significant year of the 80th founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

As the WPK has firmly adhered to its original ideals as the party of the people, it has been able to write an 80-year history, the longest ruling history in the world.

The ideals can be clearly noticed through the monument inscribed with President Kim Il Sung’s signature built at the Central Cadres Training School of the WPK, the “pedigree farm” for training the hard core of the Party.

The essence of the character and style of work of the Party is epitomized by his signature “Become competent officials of the Party and the state who always work among the people, together with them and in the vanguard of them for the independence and sovereignty of the country and the freedom and happiness of the people.”

As it has applied the autographic instruction as an immutable guideline in the whole course of party building and activities, the WPK has always won victories in all fields of the revolution and construction, winning the trust of the people.

True to the President’s idea of “The people are God”, Chairman Kim Jong Il made sure that the whole Party always found itself among the masses to serve the people, thus developing it into a single-mindedly united party forming an integral whole with the people and a steel-strong party.

The purity and cause of a party are not carried forward of their own accord for the reason that it has a long history and fine tradition.

It is a lesson taught by the world history of ruling socialist parties that a party which ignores the people constituting the foundation of a state is degenerated without exception to lose the trust of the people and its leadership ability, and the ideas and exploits of the preceding leaders eventually perish.

A Russian poet said: “In the past, the Europeans grieved at the news that Marx’s remains were buried in the Highgate Cemetery in London, an alien land, and that Engels’ urn was set afloat in the Dover Straits. And persons of will could not repress their anger when the renegades of the revolution cremated Stalin’s body and removed his statues.” 

These facts speak volumes about the significance of inheritance of the original ideals and tradition of a party in the growth and development of it.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un firmly carries forward the idea of “The people are God” and leadership of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il.

He said that it is a guarantee of the invincibility of a revolutionary party and the law governing its rule to treasure the sacred first page of the party’s history and invariably carry it forward as new pages and exploits are added to its history.

With a keen insight into the importance of the training of reserve cadres of the Party, he turned the Central Cadres Training School of the WPK into a strategic fortress for strengthening the whole Party.

Thus, great importance was attached to the school and the location of its new buildings was set at the place near the supreme temple of Juche where President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il are preserved in their lifetime appearance and the place overlooked from the cemetery of the anti-Japanese revolutionary martyrs, the first generation of the Korean revolution.

In the important speech “Train Cadres of the Party in the New Era Who Are Faithful to the Ideal and Spirit of Its Founding” he delivered in celebration of the inauguration ceremony of the Central Cadres Training School of the WPK in May last year, he said that to guarantee the lasting prosperity of the WPK by carrying forward the ideals and spirit of the Party founding pure and clean is the core of the idea of the Party building. And in the commemorative lecture he gave at the school on October 17 2022, he underlined the need for the students who would form the hard core of the Party to adhere to the ideals and resolution kept by the party founder generation and possess the innate revolutionary party traits of making selfless, devoted efforts for the good of the people as their mental qualities.

October 17 was also a founding anniversary of the Down-with-Imperialism Union to which the WPK’s history is traced back and his lecture of that day was of great importance in carrying forward the original ideals and cause of the Party.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said that the precious autograph given by President Kim Il Sung to the first graduates of the one-year course of the Central Party School in August 1948 is an immortal proposition which comprehensively contains the immutable guidelines and principles to be followed in the whole course of the building and activities of the Party and that when the proposition containing the character and style of work of the Workers’ Party is implanted in the hearts of the students as the basis of life and struggle, they can be trained as genuine officials of the Party who have made the absolute and devoted service to the people as their mental qualities.

With these inherent qualities, the WPK found itself deeper among the people when it faced with manifold difficulties and trials and has devoted its all to achieving the cause of realizing the ideals of the people, while sharing weal and woe and destiny with them, since its founding.

As the world witnessed, the spirit of selfless, devoted efforts for the good of the people was fully displayed in the course of overcoming the recent worldwide malignant epidemic crisis, which can be claimed to be the greatest turmoil for the DPRK since its founding, and repairing flood damage in the city of Sinuiju and different other parts of the country last year. Such devoted efforts were unprecedented in the world history.

The WPK unfolded the project for building 50 000 flats in Pyongyang for the citizens of the capital city and has pushed ahead with it in the most difficult situation, has made huge state investment to build modern dwelling houses and provide working people with them free and has ushered in a new era of regional transformation by constructing regional-industry factories across the country as products of miracles. Such gigantic creative campaigns cannot be waged with normal courage. 

Such choices and results have been possible as the WPK put forward the slogan “Everything for the people and everything by relying on them!” and set making selfless, devoted efforts for the good of the people as its mode of existence. 

Herein lies the main factor of the invincibility and permanence of the WPK which has written the longest ruling history of 80 years.
