Factory develops over 100 kinds of new hosiery this year
April 9, 2025The Pyongyang Hosiery Factory is increasing the variety of products by developing functional socks with fresh colours and patterns.
“The factory produced over 500 kinds of hosiery with diverse colours and patterns and in great demand last year. It newly developed and produced more than 100 kinds of hosiery by expanding variety this year, too,” said Kim Chung Hyok, chief of the technical department of the factory.
The factory directs great efforts to creating designs, which play an important role in increasing the variety of products.
To this end, it made sure that technicians and workers were acquainted with the global trend of hosiery production and reflected it actively on the production of designs. Meanwhile, the factory operates the non-permanent scientific and technological evaluation committee every week to carefully review and evaluate the creation results of employees according to individuals, thereby encouraging them to develop more than 50 new products every month without fail.
Researchers of the design studio of the industrial technology institute grasped the consumers’ demand for products through the commercial network and developed new and specific hosiery designs on the basis of contrastive analysis of hosiery produced by the factory.
Most recently alone, they presented new designs of distinctive style with good air permeability and good look to introduce them into production.
Seasonal men’s and women’s hosiery that got more diversified and multi-coloured as compared to the previous period and children’s socks depicting cartoon characters in a vivid and three-dimensional way generated high demand soon after their production.
Functional socks are winning great popularity of customers.
Among them are nonslip socks, which increase the friction of bottom, socks which performs a natural health-promoting function by removing the unpleasant smell of feet, those with skin protection effect and good for the treatment of athlete’s foot.
And sportspersons and many other people favour the socks that improve blood circulation by pressing diverse parts of feet and legs and increase sports capacity and the antibacterial socks that were made of such antibacterial materials as nano-silver.
Now, the factory is introducing a new dyeing method and a program for controlling hosiery machine.
