Kim Yo Jong, deputy department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, issued the following press statement "The anachronistic 'denuclearization' idea of the US, Japan and the ROK can never affect the position of our state" on April 8:

The diplomatic authorities of the US, Japan and the ROK talked again about someone's "complete denuclearization", terming the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's exercise of its sovereign rights a "threat" on the occasion of the recent NATO foreign ministers' meeting.

It fully exposed once again the uneasiness and anxiousness of the US, Japan and the ROK in a desperate plight of having to talk about "denuclearization" in chorus, filled with fear, although they just know that "denuclearization" of us is nothing but a pipe dream that can never come true.

Just two months ago, we clarified how stupid the US is in pursuing the goal of "denuclearizing" the DPRK, something utterly impossible and unrealistic in both practice and conception.

They still talk about "complete denuclearization", lost in the past unfulfilled daydream, which is as good as revealing by themselves to the world how anachronistic and absurd their political discernment is.

Whenever they got together, they racked their brains and shouted noisily, but they could not come up with any good idea for realizing someone's "denuclearization".

If they enthusiastically cry out for "denuclearization" with genuine belief in it, they cannot but be called the half-witted.

The position of the DPRK as a nuclear weapons state, which was established along with the existence of its substantial and very powerful nuclear deterrent and permanently fixed in the supreme and organic law of the state according to the unanimous will of all its people, is a result of its inevitable choice accurately reflecting the hostile threat from outside and the change in the present and future world security mechanics. Therefore, it does not change no matter how desperately anyone denies it.

We do not care about anyone's denial and recognition and we never change our choice.

This is our steadfast choice that can never be reversed by any physical strength or clever artifice.

We make it clear once again on this occasion that if anyone openly talks about nuclear abandonment before us or attempts to revive the dead concept of "denuclearization" under various pretexts, it just constitutes the most hostile act of denying the sovereignty of the DPRK and forcing it to give up its constitution and social system. 

The nuclear forces of the DPRK not only play a key role in deterring aggression and threat from outside and defending the sovereignty and security of the state but also make an important contribution to ensuring the balance of power and strategic security in the region and the rest of the world.

The only way for the US, Japan and the ROK to remove their current security concern is to completely give up their unilateral attempt at changing the status quo by shaking the present position of the DPRK and intently find a method of avoiding head-on conflict.

If the US and its vassal forces stick to anachronistic "denuclearization" while talking about "threat" from someone, it will only give unlimited justness and justification to the advance of the DPRK aspiring after the building of the strongest nuclear force for self-defence.

The DPRK will make steady responsible efforts to thoroughly defend the supreme interests of the state and ensure regional peace and stability, given that the US is maximizing its nuclear threat and making ever serious confrontational moves based on nuclear alliance.
