Merry schoolchildren on their way to school or back home wearing new school uniforms and shoes and carrying on their back "Sonamu (pine)"-brand schoolbags with "Mindulle (dandelion)" notebooks and "Haebaragi (sunflower)" school things in them are seen everywhere across the country.

Their happy and cheerful looks remind the DPRK people once again of the noble intention of love for the rising generation of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who set it as a consistent policy of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the state to provide the students across the country with school uniforms and school things at the state’s expense and took crucial measures for its implementation at the Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth WPK Central Committee.

With a noble outlook on the future that even a star in the sky should be picked for children, he repeatedly stressed at the Ninth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK that it is the consistent policy of the WPK and the eternal state policy of the DPRK for the Party and the state to take full responsibility for the supply of essential things to the students.

The work for the rising generation is an important undertaking the DPRK has consistently prioritized and absolutized.

Calling children the king of the country, President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il made sure that all the work of the DPRK government was strictly directed to the work for the younger generations and spared nothing for the upbringing of them.

After the liberation of Korea, the President discussed the issue of pencil production for children as an agenda item at the first meeting of the Provisional People's Committee. One day in April several decades ago, he visited then Yonphung Senior Middle School to see students in new school uniforms. He was so satisfied that he stayed there for a long time and took photos of them.

With the country’s policy of supplying school uniforms and school things to students being invariably enforced, Chairman Kim Jong Il gave detailed instructions on the new styles of school uniforms to be supplied to the students across the country and equipped schools with modern educational facilities even in the hard times for the country.

The love the President and the Chairman showed for the younger generation is being carried forward by General Secretary Kim Jong Un.

The enforcement of the universal 12-year compulsory education, the Okryu Children’s Hospital, schoolbag, school uniform and footwear factories for students built across the country and the newly-renovated Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace and Children's Union camps are associated with the great love and tireless devotion of the respected General Secretary who is determined to bring up all the rising generation as the reliable pillars of the country who will shoulder the future of the socialist country.

To provide school uniforms, bags and school things to all the students of the country, he frequently called officials to give instructions and spent a long time watching designs of new school uniforms for male and female students at schools of different kinds. He also ensured that bag factories, school uniform factories and footwear factories were built in every province despite the difficulties the country faced. The fact has become a story telling about his love for the rising generations.

The respected General Secretary also set it as the most important policy of the Workers' Party of Korea and the state to provide the children with better conditions for their upbringing even by spending enormous amounts of money at the Third Plenary Meeting of the Eighth WPK Central Committee. Under his loving care, fresh dairy products and nutritious foodstuffs have been supplied to baby homes, orphanages, nurseries and kindergartens across the country. 

It is the mode of advance and development of the DPRK to show greater sincerity for the children when it faces increasing difficulties and vigorously advance towards the future of communism on the strength of love for them. And it is the eternal state policy of the DPRK that remains unchanged forever to invariably provide the younger generation with better conditions for their upbringing and supply them with school things and uniforms at the state’s expense irrespective of favourable or unfavourable conditions so that they can study to their heart’s content.
