A spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry decried the US' application of new sanctions against his country on March 14.

Referring to the US' application of sanctions against the Iranians, vessels and companies related with oil export from Iran, he said that it proved hostile acts against the development and prosperity of Iran.

The US government will be held wholly accountable for the aftereffects of its unilateral and illegal measures, he said, describing those sanctions as a violation of international law.
