A spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry denounced the US’ new move to apply sanctions against his country’s oil industry on February 26.

As to the fact that the US imposed sanctions on over 30 brokerage firms, oil tanker operators and shipping companies involved in the selling and transport of Iranian oil, he branded and condemned it as an act running counter to the principles of respect for sovereignty and right to self-determination specified in the UN Charter and to international laws on free trade between countries.

He stressed that the US’ sanctions move proves that its officials’ expression of willingness to negotiate with Iran is hypocrisy and constitutes a clear revelation of the hostility of the US politicians trying to hinder the well-being and development of the Iranian people.
