Russia rejects EU’s bid for deploying peacekeepers
February 24, 2025Alexander Grushko, vice-minister of the Russian Foreign Ministry, rejected the European Union’s idea of deploying peace-keeping forces in Ukraine at a press conference on February 18.
Russia opposes the idea of deploying European peace-keeping forces in Ukraine, he said, adding that no matter what guise they may come under, that constitutes an act of escalating the dispute.
He said that the role of the EU in the coordination of the Ukrainian dispute was excluded and that if Europe wants to sit at the negotiating table, it needs to stop delivering weapons to Ukraine.
He also warned that if Russia’s position on Ukraine’s accession to NATO is not considered, it would launch an independent action.
