Seminar on tea culture held

A seminar on the immortal leadership exploits of the peerlessly great men concerning Unjong Tea and the Korean-style tea culture took place at the Sci-Tech Complex in Pyongyang on February 21.

Present there were Thae Hyong Chol, president of the Academy of Social Sciences, and officials, lecturers and researchers in the fields of science, education, the protection of national heritage and the production and service of Unjong Tea.

Speeches were made by Jo Kyong Guk, vice-chairman of the Agricultural Commission, Jo Hui Sung, a researcher of the Academy of Social Sciences, Kim Rin Han, section chief of the South Hwanghae Provincial Institute of Agricultural Science, and Choe Yun Chol, department director of the Agricultural Commission.

They said that the whole country is full of the scent of Unjong Tea under the noble loving care of the peerlessly great men for the people.

President Kim Il Sung sent tea saplings, designated the place for cultivation and organized a powerful research force, as he took all measures to widely cultivate tea trees to suit the climatic and soil conditions of the country.

Chairman Kim Jong Il, who made it an eye-opening reality to succeed in tea cultivation in the country, named the tea Unjong Tea and gave detailed instructions on improving the flavour and quality of the tea to the world level, while putting his heart and soul into creating a new tea culture of a Korean style.

Under the warm care of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who is so concerned to make the people enjoy a highly civilized life, the Unjong Tea Drink Factory was built in a modern way and a solid foundation was laid for producing high-quality tea with advanced production technology and structure.

The speakers explained the Korean tea culture and practice with a long history and tradition, the pharmacological action of tea and the excellence of Unjong Tea.

They noted that Korean-style tea culture is further developing under the loving care of the Workers' Party of Korea.

They said that the tea culture was put on the list of the national intangible cultural heritage and thereby tea production and use are making a tangible contribution to the promotion of the people's health and their civilized life under the state’s protection and care.

They said that a large number of Unjong Tea service bases have been built across the country, service and dissemination activities are conducted briskly and the variety of Unjong Tea products has increased day by day, while their quality has been ensured at a high level.
