Vitality of readjustment and reinforcement displayed in chemical industry sector
February 23, 2025The chemical industry sector overfulfilled its fertilizer production plan for January.
The success is attributable to the painstaking efforts of the officials and working people of the Namhung Youth Chemical Complex and the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex to implement the strategy for readjustment and reinforcement set forth at the Eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea.
The Namhung Youth Chemical Complex produced thousands of tons of more fertilizer while saving large quantities of coal in the first 10-odd days of this year alone.
Last year, it produced over 200 000 tons of more fertilizer from a fertilizer production process based on anthracite gasification as compared to the output at the outset of its operation, while saving a large amount of coal equivalent to the output of a coal mine for several months.
The remarkable result it has achieved day after day this year is the all-time record since its inauguration, which is impossible to set by the existing formula.
It has developed more than 90 reasonable methods for increased production and economy early this year alone.
Its officials and workers say in unison that workshops have obtained thrilling results every day amid an aggressive technical innovation drive for producing a larger quantity of fertilizer with the existing facilities and the same amount of labour and materials and economizing on coal.
Steam workshop No. 2 installed more feed pumps and realized the recycling of soot in the new year, thus boosting steam production while saving dozens of tons of coal a day.
Compressor workshops Nos. 1 and 2 ensured the full capacity operation of each compressor to provide a firm guarantee for increased production. A solution refining process introduced at the ammonia workshop proved effective from the beginning of this year, while the urea workshop increased the rate of ammonia extraction from waste gas.
The Hungnam Fertilizer Complex set an ambitious goal of increased production and took a vigorous step forward from the first day of the new year to fulfil its national economic plan for January by January 28 and produced over 4 000 tons of more fertilizer. Meanwhile it lowered coal consumption by 7% as against the same period of last year, which means it saved more than 100 tons of coal a day.
The Hungnam Fertilizer Complex has updated its peak year production record several times by concentrating its main efforts on readjustment and reinforcement after the Eighth Congress of the Party. It set another goal of boosting fertilizer production this year.
The gas purification workshop successfully completed the technical upgrading of the process to separate carbonic acid gas, thereby raising the rate of hydrogen yield by more than 4% and lowering daily coal consumption by 7%.
Employees of nitrogen workshop No. 2 provided a sure guarantee for increased fertilizer production by improving operation methods of an oxygen plant and those of the compressor workshop developed and applied a technical innovation plan for using gas leaking from mixed gas compressors in production.
Its officials said that the current production result is completely impossible in the light of the established idea and method.
