A spokesman for the Iranian foreign ministry rejected the groundless criticism from the G7 against the country on February 16.

The G7 has recently blamed Teheran for causing instability in the region while finding fault with the country over its nuclear activities and policy of bolstering up defence capabilities. In this regard, the spokesman said that it is the moves of the Group of Seven states to render weapons and financial aid to Israel and their military and political interference in West Asia that create substantial instability in the region.

In order to restore regional security and stability, the West should abandon its pointless policy of interference, he said, adding Iran has a legitimate right to defend the people, territorial integrity and state sovereignty from all sorts of threats and aggression.

He stressed that to expand and bolster up the defence capabilities of Iran is essential to the defence of peace and stability in West Asia.
