The Pyongyang Spirulina Pharmaceutical Factory produces various kinds of spirulina products which are helpful to the growth and development of children and promotion of public health. 

“Now, spirulina is called a choicest variety of nutritious foodstuff evenly containing all nutrients needed for the human body and the most ideal nutrient source in the 21st century and widely used as an essential nourishing food to maintain living activities of humans. Our factory increases the kinds of natural health products which are good for the growth and intellectual development of children by improving the cultivating method of spirulina,” said manageress Ho Ye Gyong. 

According to her, spirulina contains all nutrients such as quality proteins and vitamins needed for the human body and their digestibility is 95 percent.

In an effort to improve the quality of spirulina foodstuff the technical personnel of the factory set a new standard of quality assessment of spirulina and divided cultivated spirulina into three categories. 

According to Kim In Su, a department chief of the factory, the first category is used to produce medicines, the second one for the production of foodstuff and the third for that of animal feed, and it has helped the factory radically improve the quality of products and further increase the variety and output of products.

Not content with the development of spirulina nourishing pill, powdered spirulina and others in the past, the factory waged a mass technical innovation drive to make several kinds of new products including highly-effective spirulina granules. 

Such new products are much favoured by the users as they are highly digestible and produce sufficient effects with smaller amounts of spirulina than before.
