A joint national meeting of the Korean Children's Union organizations took place in Pyongyang on February 16, the 83rd birth anniversary of the great leader Generalissimo Kim Jong Il.
Attending it were students of Mangyongdae Revolutionary School and Kang Pan Sok Revolutionary School, representatives of the KCU organizations in all provinces, schoolchildren in Pyongyang and pupils to be admitted into the KCU.
Present at invitation were Choe Tong Myong, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Jong Sun, department director of the WPK Central Committee, officials of the youth league, persons of merit and labour innovators in Pyongyang.
Mun Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, made a report.
The reporter noted that Generalissimo Kim Jong Il clearly indicated the road ahead of the KCU in each period and at each stage of the revolution and construction and took a measure to build palaces and camps for children in the best places of the country so that the song "We Are the Happiest in the World" would resound forever as the theme song of happiness of the younger generation.
The history of his warm love for the younger generation is given steady continuity on this land, thanks to the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un, he said.
He called upon all the KCU members to firmly believe in and follow only the fatherly Marshal and prepare themselves to be ardent young revolutionaries and patriots of the powerful DPRK.
An admission ceremony of the KCU took place at the meeting.
Led by Choe Tong Myong, the pupils joining the KCU took an admission oath.
Officials, persons of merit and labour innovators put red ties around the necks of those pupils and pinned KCU badges on their chests.
The pupils, who joined the KCU, made the first greetings of the KCU, responding to the slogan "Let us be always ready for socialist country!"
Then, congratulatory speeches were made by DPRK Hero Pak In Ho, a lecturer of the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, Ryu Son Hui, headmistress of Munsin Primary School in Tongdaewon District of Pyongyang, and Kim Kum Yong, a table-tennis player of the Hwaeppul Sports Club.
