Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, first vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly, made a field survey of different sectors.

At the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex seething with the struggle to implement the decisions of the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Party Central Committee, he reiterated the importance of the complex's duty in attaining the iron and steel production goal for this year and stressed the need to wage a dynamic drive for increased iron and steel production and steadily push ahead with the project for further strengthening the Juche-based iron production foundation of Korean style.

At the Taean Friendship Glass Factory, he called for improving the ideological viewpoint and work style of officials, actively enlisting the spiritual strength of working people and making remarkable progress in the readjustment and reinforcement work by dint of such mass movements as the Three-Revolution Red Flag Movement.

Learning about the work of the Taean District People's Committee, he said that the officials of power organs should fulfil their responsibility and role as faithful servants of the people and, in particular, all deputies should become standard-bearers in the struggle for achieving the comprehensive development of the state and realizing the well-being of the people. He stressed the need to further intensify the work for enhancing the awareness of law observance of the masses and establishing an atmosphere of law observance across society.

The field consultative meetings discussed the issue of strengthening cooperation with the relevant units in charge of supplying raw and other materials for iron and steel production, the issue of raising the effectiveness of the mass movements in conformity with the characteristics of relevant sectors and units and the issue of responsibly carrying on the work to consolidate the supply service base at industrial establishments.

Earlier, he learned about the construction of the Kangdong Cement Factory and its equipment assembling.
