Colourful and delightful winter vacation
February 11, 2025Students are now on winter vacation.
What do they do during the vacation?
It is difficult to say in a word, they organize their life during the vacation in a diverse way.
They review and prepare lessons, study at hobby groups to cultivate talents and have a pleasant time as they visit different places and see art performances.
In the period, extracurricular groups at schools and children’s palaces across the country are operated more actively.
There are various kinds of hobby groups according to subjects and art and sports groups teaching vocal music, the accordion, dance, football, volleyball and so on.
It is the students’ goal during vacation to improve their performance in subjects they like or those in which they lag behind others and to acquire more than one skill.
The Sci-Tech Complex and the Natural History Museum, bases for disseminating science and technology and education, are the favourite haunts of many students with a strong desire for learning and consolidating what they learned.
People cast an admiring and satisfactory glance at schoolchildren who are absorbed in study in front of computers with a sincere attitude of inquiry like grown-ups who are engrossed in search while reading scientific and technological literature.
Meanwhile, in the children’s dream hall of the Sci-Tech Complex, schoolchildren are busy trying to grasp the scientific principles of the phenomena they often encounter in everyday life.
A primary school teacher reminded her pupils the problems discussed in class in the hall. Leaving the hall, she said to the guide that she keenly felt once again the advantages of visual education.
With immense curiosity about nature millions of years ago, students visit the Natural History Museum and the Central Zoo almost every day.
Meanwhile, students spend a good time with their family members or friends at theatres, cinemas, the Munsu Water Park, Yangdok Hot Spring Resort, Masikryong Ski Resort and other bases for cultural and leisure activities built in different parts of the country.
Parks are crowded with children flying kites, spinning tops, playing shuttlecock, skipping ropes and playing other folk games. And at outdoor ice rinks they do skating or ride sleigh till late at night and their clear laughter add more to the cheerful mood of streets.
Vacation is a precious period for students to cultivate patriotism and acquire noble moral traits.
Schoolchildren visit factories, enterprises and grand socialist construction sites, which are seething with innovations to implement the decisions of the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, to assist working people with their work and give art performances. Workers give them big hand and lavish praise on the people, visualizing a brighter future of the country through their faces.
