He made significant achievements in the cutting-edge research into orthodontics and greatly contributed to developing the country’s dentistry. Last year he cured many children with malocclusion so they could lead joyful lives.

Some medical workers of a central hospital miraculously saved a war veteran who was hovering on the brink of death with heart failure and complete atrioventricular block last year.

After witnessing the selfless devotion of the doctors who miraculously resuscitated the 91-year-old who was believed to have lived the natural span of his life, his family members said that they learned once again the meaning of the word “sincerity” from the doctors.

There are also some medical workers who devoted themselves to restoring a female worker and an office worker who had their faces disfigured in accidents and to treating patients who were suffering from incurable diseases.

In this regard, Pak Kum Son, doctor of the General Dental Hospital of the Ministry of Public Health, and Kim Ryong Guk, section chief of the Dermatology Hospital of the Ministry of Public Health, said that warm human love and sincerity are the source of the miracles that cannot be explained by any medical science or clinical experience.

Medical workers of the Songyo District Hospital held two consultative meetings to bring round a child who was rushed to the hospital in emergency with a high fever of over 39 degrees Celsius which lasted for several days, and confirmed the treatment plan. They successfully carried out an operation and healed the child completely in some 20 days to protect the happiness of his family.

His father expressed his heartfelt gratitude, saying that he understood the true meaning of the “engineer of human life”.

As the doctors, nurses and other employees of the Songnim City Hospital donated their skin to recover a child from Hwangju County and those of the South Phyongan Provincial Children’s Hospital saved a little girl from the jaws of death so that she could continue to follow her dream, the families of the children keenly felt the benevolence of the socialist healthcare system.

A head nurse of a hospital in Hyongjesan District of Pyongyang and another head nurse of the South Hwanghae Provincial General Hospital, who had devoted their sincerity to save the lives of patients, were honoured with the titles of meritorious person of socialist patriotism and frontrunner of socialist patriotic youth respectively last year.

The number of medical workers who personify the spirit of devoted service for the people increased throughout last year in the fierce flames of the devoted service movement.
