The enlarged meeting of the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Ninth Central Committee of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea took place on January 31.

Members and alternate members of the Central Committee of the UAWK attended the meeting and officials of the union in Pyongyang and local areas were present there as observers.

The enlarged meeting discussed the issue of thoroughly implementing the decisions of the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the issue of revising some contents of the Rules of the UAWK.

Han Jong Hyok, chairman of the Central Committee of the UAWK, made a report.

He specified detailed tasks for all union organizations to actively launch the organizational and political work inspiring all union members to implement the five-year plan for national economic development.

Saying that union members and other agricultural workers are filled with the fighting spirit to greet the 80th founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea with the laudable success of high crop yield, he called on union organizations at all levels to increase the production enthusiasm and emulation zeal of the masses by scrupulously and significantly conducting the organization of socialist emulation drive and review and appraisal according to farming period and process while putting main stress on making union members give full play to their patriotism.

He stressed that all members should devote their wisdom and enthusiasm to bringing about a practical change and substantial advance of the union, in keeping with the mission and duty as an organization for ideological education in the sacred struggle for implementing the decisions of the plenary meeting of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

Relevant resolutions were adopted at the meeting.
