The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on January 24 to criticize the hostile policy of the West against its country.

The statement exposed that most of Western countries are obstinately trying to remove their major rivals, still harbouring the wild ambition to maintain the dominant position in the world, and set Russia, which is doggedly struggling to establish a multipolar world, as the first target. 

As to the matter of forging a bond between Russia and the European Union, such a possibility can exist only when the Europeans realize that their line of inflicting “strategic defeat” on Russia is on the decline and unpromising, the statement stressed.
