Nation celebrates lunar New Year's Day

The visitors looked back with deep emotion on the sacred revolutionary careers and immortal exploits of the President and the Chairman who regarded “The people are God” as their lifelong motto and led the socialist cause of Juche to victory with their outstanding ideas, energetic leadership and tireless patriotic devotion.
Officials, working people, service personnel, youth and schoolchildren laid flower baskets, bouquets and flowers at the statues of the President and the Chairman on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang and other parts of the country and mosaics depicting the peerlessly great men.
The new streets and rural villages, successfully built under the wise leadership of the great Workers' Party of Korea, were decorated in a festive attire and all families resounded with laughter and songs of happiness.
Colourful art performances were given in Pyongyang and local areas, revving up the festive mood.
The performers sang highly of the undying feats of the Workers' Party of Korea which has worked out a gigantic revolutionary strategy for realizing the centuries-old desire of the regional people and ushering in a new history of regional development and a new era in which regional areas change and develop.

Folk games including shuttlecock kicking, top spinning and rope-skipping were played by schoolchildren in Pyongyang and South Hwanghae Province, Nampho and Kaesong municipalities and other regions.
Public catering establishments across the country were crowded with visitors and the Central Zoo, the Natural History Museum, the Munsu Water Park and other bases for cultural and leisure activities were filled with happy laughter of the people.
People relished roast chestnuts and roast sweet potatoes at the outdoor stalls across Pyongyang, adding charm to Pyongyang streets in a festive mood.
Gorgeous illuminations put up in different parts of the capital city including the Pothong Riverside Terraced Houses District, Changjon Street and the area in front of Pyongyang Railway Station elegantly decorated the night sky of the lunar New Year's Day.
