Central Committee of General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea holds enlarged plenary meeting
January 31, 2025An enlarged meeting of the 61st plenary meeting of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea took place at the Sci-Tech Complex in Pyongyang on January 28.
Present there were Vice-Premier Jon Sung Guk, Sin Il Chol, deputy department director of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Kim Song Bin, chairman of the State Commission of Science and Technology who is also chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea, and members and alternate members of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea.
Officials of the associations and societies, ministries, national agencies and provincial, city and county federations were also present there as observers.
The meeting discussed the tasks of the committees at all levels, associations and societies to thoroughly implement the decisions of the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.
Cha Man Baek, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea, made a report to be followed by speeches.
The speakers referred to the successes achieved in the last year's struggle to confirm victory in attaining the fighting goals set by the Eighth Congress of the Party by actively encouraging scientists and technicians to implement the five-year plan for national economic development and the new regional development policy and radically building up the country's scientific and technical capabilities.
Suggested at the meeting were practical ways to rouse the scientific circles to firmly support the successful completion of the Five-Year Plan and produce successful results leading to a new stage of development.
In-depth discussions were made about the measures to solve urgent scientific and technological problems arising in dynamically pushing forward with the growth and development of the economy as a whole and improving the people's living standards at the committees at all levels, associations and societies.
The meeting also discussed the measures for dynamically conducting a mass technological innovation movement and organizing various sectoral and regional technical innovation competitions conducive to implementing the Party's policy on regional-industry development such as the growth of production, improvement of the quality of products and creation of raw material bases at regional-industry factories.
A decision was adopted at the enlarged plenary meeting.
