Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that society is being united through national defence and service to the country as he addressed a meeting of the “Victory” organizing committee on January 15.

National defence and service to the country are being accepted as the most sacred duty by the Russians and all the Russian citizens are devoting their all to the country, he said.

It is of key significance in instilling in the younger generations the independent outlook on the world and civic stand and consciousness to clarify the events during the Great Patriotic War based on documents, eyewitness accounts and scientific data, he said, stressing the need for heads of regions, relevant government organs and social organizations to make preparations for the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of victory in the war in a conscientious way and not to countenance formalism.
