Supporting growth of her children and disciples
January 21, 2025Hwang Thae Yun, a woman living in Tungme-dong No. 1, Songyo District of Pyongyang, has devoted her whole life to the education of younger generations.
From their childhood, her children witnessed her working as a devoted educator caring for her students like her own flesh and blood.
Innumerable are her disciples who grew up to become excellent persons under her familial care. She strove to improve their knowledge, providing them with reference books, and paid special attention to the health of a weak student.
Whenever she taught the students until late at night, she would walk them home before going to her house.
During vacations, her home would turn into a classroom.
The students followed her like they would do their own mothers as she not only taught them knowledge but also took warm care of them and always led them to go straight by sometimes reproving them severely.
Though always busy with her work, she would prepare and take relief materials to soldiers together with her children. And she set practical examples to inspire her children to love work and be industrious.
She was faithful to her duty before society and always honest and conscientious, setting practical examples for her children.
That is why her eldest son and daughter, who began their careers after graduating from university, have become respectable officials and the second son was awarded the title of Labour Hero.
Many disciples of hers, who are different in age and occupation, still visit her and recall with deep emotion the days when they senselessly spent time with play and the days when they wept as they were reprimanded by her.
Now the disciples are middle-aged innovators and meritorious persons. Still, Hwang tells them as ever that devoting life to society, collective and the country is more worthwhile than enjoying it.
The state awarded her the Communist Mother Honour Prize as she, as mother and educator, had supported the growth of her children and disciples as good persons for society, collective and the country.
