Officials and workers in the rail transport sector are striving to enhance the transport capacity, true to the decisions of the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Officials of the Ministry of Railways and relevant units have intensified the operation to ensure the safety of railways, increase the production of rolling stock and raise the informatization level of the transport organization and control.

The project for improving the conditions of railways and repairing and reinforcing the railway facilities is gaining momentum.

The work is going on to intensify sci-tech guidance so that the Kim Jong Thae Electric Locomotive Complex can carry out in a responsible manner the task of producing advanced subway cars and electric locomotives with a higher pulling capacity.

Practical plans are being worked out to satisfy the demands for transport by strengthening the unified dispatcher command system to establish discipline and order in a well-regulated way and improving the railway operation and management.

A dynamic drive for increased transport has been waged from the outset of the year, amid the detailed operation for preferentially ensuring the transport of freight needed for various economic sectors and major construction projects and the growing enthusiasm of rail transport workers.
