The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un sent a birthday spread to Pang Ryon Hyang residing in neighbourhood unit No. 28 in Jaktong-ri, Poptong County, Kangwon Province, on her 100th birthday.

Pang, born into a poor peasant's family, had been subjected to maltreatment and contempt before Korea’s liberation. She came to enjoy a genuine life as master of the country only after national liberation.

During the Fatherland Liberation War, she took the lead in supporting the Korean People’s Army soldiers on the front as an official of the women's union. She dedicated herself to postwar reconstruction out of patriotism and worked hard before her retirement.

She brought up eight children to be pillars of the country, adding lustre to her honourable title as a wartime meritorious person awarded by the Workers' Party of Korea.
