A spokesman for the Chinese Defence Ministry released a press statement decrying the US interference in the internal affairs of China on December 21.

He asserted that the 2024 “report on China’s military and security development” recently released by the US Defense Department distorted China’s defence policy and clamoured against the so-called “military threats from China”, blatantly interfering in its internal affairs.

Saying that the US has issued such report filled with deception and falsity every year over the past 20 odd years, he noted it is aimed at inventing an excuse for developing its own military capabilities, misleading the public and interfering in the internal affairs of China.
