Chinese FM spokesman decries EU sanctions
December 21, 2024A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of China criticized the EU for imposing sanctions on its businesses at a routine press conference on December 17.
Earlier on December 16, the European Council announced sanctions against the Chinese businesses connected with Russia, arguing that it is aimed at weakening Russia.
As to this, the spokesman noted that his country has consistently opposed unilateral sanctions not supported by international law and expresses deep dissatisfaction with the EU’s enforcement of unfounded sanctions against Chinese businesses.
Most countries including European nations and the US are conducting trade with Russia, he disclosed, urging the EU not to apply double standards in the matter of economic and trade cooperation with Russia.
China will take measures to safeguard the just and legitimate rights and interests of its businesses, he stressed.
